Go back inside, make some Irish coffee, call in sick. (Edit: Not my car, just found on the Internets.)

Ouch. I feel your pain man. Thats not good. Did the handle work but the seals stuck of did the handle simply snap off? If it was the seals (I know after the fact is no help but) Einszett Gummi Pfledge Stift is great on door seals to stop them sticking when frozen.

Well take my advice as a detailer. Put Gummi Pfledge on your door seals (especially on frameless glass or coupes) to reguvinate and restore the door rubbers.

I have been wondering when my VW Fox's door triggers are going to pull this shit on me

The trigger on my '88 Fox broke in '92 or '93. As I recall, you have to replace the entire handle, and it wasn't cheap. I was in grad school, and I didn't have the money, so I went for some weeks entering through the passenger door. Not as easy as it sounds.

Broken outer door handles is actually a real problem on Deloreans. Alot of owners replace the original plastic with metal hinged ones. Its just not something you would think would fail.

now with the wonders of the internet, you can get the chinese non trigger style for 15 bucks! And it is vastly superior to zee German (brazilian) part

That happened at least once a year in every Fox body Mustang I have owned. Even without ice. I started buying these in bulk.
These too.

Interesting. My old Fox is probably closer to its place of birth, if it's not scrapped, which is more likely. Back in '01 I donated it to charity when we bought my current Golf. The guy who took it said it would likely end up in Mexico or somewhere farther south.
